In this chapter we will create the sidewalk that goes around the perimeter of the park.

The fastest and simpliest way to do it would be using the PlanarSrf command PlanarSrf, and picking the internal and external curves of the sidewalk (located in the Layer Guidelines > Paths). See the result in Fig 1.

But we will see the advantages of using the Path command instead:

The path object in Lands Design is an extruded profile along an axis. The external curve of the side walk will be used as the Path object axis curve.

1.1 Draw the path profile

  1. Run the _Polyline command Polyline and the _Arc Arc3Pt command to generate the profile. Draw the profile aligned with the X axis, taking its width from the distance between the two sidewalk curves. See an example in Fig. 2.
  2. _Join Join the two curves in order to get a single closed curve.
  3. Move the curve to the layer Guidelines > Paths.

The profile can be either an open or a closed curve, but only paths that are created from closed curves will be a solid object.

1.2 Insert the Path

  1. Run the _laPath command laPath. The Path insert dialog will open. (Fig. 1)
  2. Under the Path's tab, the path section profile can be selected in two different ways: by picking an existing curve (Select Button) or by drawing it in the model (Pick by point button). Choose the first option (Select Button). The dialog will hide momentarily.
  3. Select the polyline created before.
  4. Back to the Insert dialog, define the Justification to top right, and click OK to close the dialog.
  5. Select the external curve of the sidewalk.


2. Edit the path

Once the path has been created select it to edit its parameters from the Lands Edit Panel laEditPanel. There we can change the path profile, the path alignment, smoothness or the material.

  1. Change the path justification to Middle-Right
  2. Play with the Smothness slider to get a better accurate result.
  3. Turn the path control points to change the path axis or the path profile (Fig. 4).
  4. Select the path, and from the Edit panel > Material's tab, change the material for any other one (i.e "52126.jpg"), located in the following folder: C:\ProgramData\AsuniCAD\Lands\Rhinoceros\Textures\AccuRender\Flooring.
