1. Add a cut and fill to the terrain

In this chapter you will use the Cut and Fill command to create a sloped terracing on the terrain surface.

  1. Draw a curve (it must be closed) on the 0 elevation, as shown in Fig 1. It will be used for the Cut and fill operation. Use the _Polyline or the _Curve commands to draw this curve.
  2. Run the Add Cut and fill command (_laTerrainAddCutAndFill laTerrainAddCutAndFill ).
  3. Specify the Slope angle (i.e. 60º) in the Command line.
  4. Select the closed curve created before to define the cut and fill area.

The terrain will add and remove the soil volume required to match with the curve position, according to the given slope angle.

2. Edit the Cut and fill

The add cut and fill operation can be edited from the Terrain Edit Panel and Properties dialog, under the Input data tab, after selecting the terrain. There you can change the cut and fill angle and control whether the control points of the cut and fill boundary are shown or hiden when control points are enabled on the terrain object.

Change the Terrain x and y cell size to 2m for a better appreciation of the cut and fill operation.

Enable the Terrain Control points PointsOn to change the position, elevation or limits of the cut and fill area. A Move control arrow lets you move the whole cut and fill area at once.

From the Imput data tab, turn the elevation curves control points off for an easier edition of the cut and fill control points.
