Import a color orthophoto from Google Earth

Scan Mesh
When scaning and importing a terrain data from Google Earth with the laGoogleEarthScan command, a textured mesh is also imported into Rhino.

If you turn the Rendered Display mode On you can see the orthophoto texture on the mesh.

However this image is imported in black and white colors automatically. And it is saved in a folder called “Google Earth Images”, available inside the Windows Public Files:

  • In windows 8: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Lands.

To import this image in color, go the Google Earth menu > File > Save > Save image…, and replace the black and white image file with this new file.
